The Asymmetry of Relationships in Psychiatry

The author talks about this notion of like the symmetric versus asymmetric sort of relations between, between objects. This kind of comes out of a reaction to early psychiatry and electroshock therapy that was being used in the thirties up through the fifties. The idea is then generalized as well into cybernetics. It's like symmetrical relations between complex systems allow the systems to adapt to each other - which is Cybernetics.
