Is There a Way to Make Money in the Ancient World?
There's no one way to make your money in the ancient world, but property helps. Some people would just make the money through trade and come to the kind of wealth you needed to be somebody who's involved in roman politics. You could get into the senate having amassed that wealth. And this is one of the big changes that's happening from the first century ce onwards. That wealth is starting to become away into the upper echelons of roman society. Since elections are essentially pointless, worthless. Now you don't have to depend something like being very well educated and having to stress your family background in order to talk to the people and get elected. They are increasingly amassing wealth
