How Do We Resist Spiritual Desolation?
Pope Francis: There are no empty times in the spiritual life. We get there because God allows us to go through the trial of spiritual desolation at various points in our lives so that we may have the opportunity to resist it and by resisting grow in the ability to resist it. How do we become patient? By being in situations where patience is required and making the effort to be patient. Day after day with all the ups and downs of prayer, something grows. And then one of the most fulfilled statements in these rules follows.
