In industrial agriculture, there's a process called Haber-Bosch. It involves pulling nitrogen out of the atmosphere at big chemical plants that burn a ton of fuel to combine it with hydrogen for fertilizer. But some crops can do this Haber-bosch process by themselves. So what if other more common crops like corn, wheat, or rice could also self-fertilize? And so we're reading the DNA code of the microbes that live on soy and other legumes,. finding the code that gives them that superpower to produce fertilizer.
