Is Troxler Fading a Good Explanation?
Troxler fading may be an explanation for why outer features of the face might seem to fade or disappear while we're fixated on a central point, like if you're staring at your own nose. But this is not the full answer to the question, right? Because so Caputo's interpretive section continues to say that Troxler fading might be a good explanation for whyouter features of theface might seem to vanish and/or distort. Part of the explanation could have to do with the long-gazing process causing a disruption of the mental faculty that normally combines individual face traits into a unified experience of a face.
