The Reconstruction of the United States

Reconstruction was more like the Afghan war in that the early stages of it. The violence petered out, but eventually the occupiers decided to use wasn't worth the squeeze anymore because they couldn't draft a whole new Irish conscript army and like start the war back over again. So we're just going to throw in a towel and say, yeah, you guys can have democracy.
