The Importance of Technical Depth in Software Development
Technical depth is a metaphor to describe not quite right code, Swenjos says. The term was actually coined by what Conningham in 1992. "A little depth, speeds, development so long as it is paid back promptly with a rewrite," he said. Every minute spent on notquite right code counts as interest on that depth. Entire engineering organizations can be brought to a stand still under the depth load of an unconsolidated implementation or otherwise.
