The Incarnation of the Logos
The church fathers were unanimous in thinking that the incarnation was not a matter of the Logos's divesting himself of certain attributes of divinity. In Greco-Roman mythology for example Zeus is said to have turned himself into a bull or turning himself into a swan. A doing so would mean that he's thereby ceased to be God. The Christian affirmation is that Jesus is both God and man simultaneously.
