Neanderthals and Chimpanzees

Neanderthals and Denisovans are considered the most advanced non-human bipedal primates. But we see nothing in their technological capability that we don't also see in chimpanzees. Chimpanzees will take advantage of wildfires to try to crack open nuts if they can, unless they roast them. The only evidence we see linking Neanderthals to fire is in the summertime. If they truly had control over fire, you would expect to see it in the winter when they most needed. We humans basically supplanted them all.
