The Time Interval Between Preparation and Intubation for One Lung Ventilation

For this study, 80 patients who are undergoing elective thoracic surgery that would require one lung ventilation were randomly assigned in a one-to-one fashion to either a double lumen tube or an easy blocker. The primary endpoint of the study was the time to successful one lung ventilation and how they defined that was from the time required to prepare the device all the way until a lung isolation was achieved. Secondary endpoints included quality of lung collapse, number of attempts it took for intubation, malpositioning of the tubes, and then any intubation-related injuries that were noted after the surgery.
