Voices of Change: BBC's Caribbean Narratives
This chapter examines the BBC's Caribbean Voices program and its role in fostering literary creativity during the sociopolitical shifts in the Caribbean in the late 1930s and 1940s. It highlights the interplay between local vernaculars and a cohesive Caribbean identity in literature, as well as the challenges and tensions faced by writers within the colonial context. Additionally, the chapter argues for the importance of cultural dimensions in understanding the complexities of national identity and fragmentation in the region.
