The History of the Spanish State
The Spanish state, this Catholic counter Reformation state that takes over North America and a big chunk of Central and South America is feudal in every sense. You have a very little central authority, I mean you do, you have more central authority than anybody to your east because the Spanish kings had control of the Inquisition. They're fighting with this antiquated system that they can never fix, because it got them there so instead they will slowly be detached and lose their empire and become cannibalized. And that's where they sat stagnant until the 19th century when Napoleon kicks the door in and jump starts modernity.
