The Importance of Inspecting Lessons

As well as being a teacher, you've spent a lot of time being an inspector. What are your favourite maths lessons that you've seen during your time as an inspector? I guess the ones that really stick with me are people that would be quite scientific about their approach and it resonates with me. A guy who would do this TV interviewing thing, where he'd put children inside huge cardboard boxes and turn them into interviewers was doing it for a really important reason. It's just the biggest privilege to go around schools and watch people teaching,. And trying to tie someone into your own pedagogies is the biggest mistake you could possibly make as a head teacher.
