The Value of Ritual

The value of ritual is that i don't want to just jump in. This is my transition into the thing that i'm going to put my energy into for this time. The games of pretend are a nice part of ritual, when you hear creative people talk about how they've taken it for granted so many times. Magic hour is usually not magic hour, is the moment the sun goes over the horizon with no direct light source. Photographers who shoot by magic hour have got a soft lightness about it. And then there's deliberate boredom - we're deliberately engineered while the power is out.
