144: Amusement Parks That Ended Up Being Death Traps
Lights Out
The Death of Jeffrey Nathan at Waterworld
Action Park was known for its disregard for alcohol laws. In the summer of 1987, over 100 injuries were treated and doctors said that they admitted 5-10 people a day. The Kayak experience ride never reopened because the park thought no one would want to go on the kayak experience again. One man even died from a heart attack in 1984 just after launching from the Tarzan swing. Slides with no edges shot into the pools. And in another ride, drunken guests would drive the single-seater mini speedboats riding and crash into each other. It's just absolute mayhem at Action Park.
