New mother polar bears are calling out from their winter dens where they've been since the fall. They gave birth in December and now they begin in their migration with their cubs to Hudson Bay. It's like standing on the edge of two worlds: On my left is their habitat where they're denning for the last few months and given birth. To my right is this sea ice where all the other bears are and that's where the females with new cubs want to be. For many humans though, the most important season is not winter or spring, but fall.
