The Origins of Creative Distruction
The coming of ideas is an exercise in creative destruction too. We see the creation when we look backward because there it is. But when we look forward like we do now with Sears, we tend to only see the destruction and we see Sears with whatever it is now around 150,000 employees. Those jobs are going to be lost. They're novel things. So that's kind of the short thumbnail sketch of the history of where the concept comes from. And you guys should go look it up and do a little bit of offhand reading on it. It's actually fascinating material and pretty accessible to a non-economist audience. So have a look.
