Jean-Jacques Rousseau was one of the Enlightenment's most powerful critics. He is seen as a forerunner to Marx, whose political theory involves progression to more equitable society. We don't find a return to nature in Rousseau's theories, and usually not in those that were influenced by him either. But he settles in nicely among the natural rights tradition.
