What's the Difference Between the App Store and Apple?

Apple launched the app store in 2008 and it totally changed the software industry. Apple takes a 30% cut for every app sold on the app store. Google of course has a similar model where you can purchase apps. On the Android side there's also what's called side loading. This means that users can download apps from a website and install them themselves.
