The character of Pearl talks about being coerced in her pawn shop to sell payday loans and she specifically mentions that they're basically targeting black communities. The idea that the only way to win is not to play means existential death or literal death is kind of I think that threads into the it's one of the ways that it ties into the the action that you're observing in the other play.
