The Uro Dollar System - A Brief History
On slide 12, you can see a couple of periods where the japanese primarily were being forced to sell their us. Treasury notes. This was nothing new in 19 97 and 19 98. As i said before, this goes all the way back to the beginning of the uro dollar system. Whenever you see government selling treasuries, that's usually an indication the us. Dollar is going to rise. And as we know from the japans example, if they're selling reserve assets, that means dollar shortage.
