I Love the Metaphor of the Cutting Off the Arm

I love that metaphor of the cutting off the arm because to me it's such a tangible way to think about a situation like this. None of us can say what we would do in that situation. I have a very strong, deep belief that God, you don't have to leave God if you leave any religion. You can absolutely take God with you. But if something becomes more harmful than healthy for you, it's really your decision. It's nobody else's job to judge you or boss you around or fix you or be your savior. It's your job.
