Could some of robert's intense exercise regiment be connected to his job as a nurse? Could the sports truck he drives to work every day be a defence mechanism? He does see himself compensating in another area. Maybe it's pushing against the stereotype of what you might assume a male nurse would be. And so it's saying, you know, i'm not that. I'm actually pretty manly.
