The Utilitarian Aspect of Constitutionalism
Rau: The political and the constitutional inter sect, which is beyond the utilitarian aspect of constitutionalism. So that's where i fully agree with you, where this colonial history, with all its power dynamics, is playing its role in constitutionalism. And row is someone who is actually part of that dynamic. He is responding to that. His writings reflect an engagement with the colonial state,. But he is equally not very happy the nationalists either. It's that tyrrain of colonial politics. It's also the tyrain that is somewhat forgotten.
