Why Is the Declaration of Independence So Radical?
The advocates of Declaration of Independence are looking at their situation through what I call the lens of marginalization. That is the lens that African Americans have historically looked at in their quest for change. It's also the lens that women and gay ladies and brothers and sisters have looked at, too. And you could actually draw a line from 1776 to the present that connects the founders of this country with say black lives matter. We have a problem. We see how this problem can be resolved and we're justified in pursuit of the problem in that manner. That is the formula for change in America.
