The History of Privateering in British North America

The first time that privateering was used in the American colonies was during King William's War. Most were, I think, colonial American privateering really came of age and American privateers were partly credited with the positive outcome for England in the Seven Years War. Their privateers that came from many port and they were successful. And so ironically, it's because of colonial America's experience with privateering,. especially during the Seven years War that come the American Revolution, there were a number of people in the colonies who had great familiarity with privateering as part of the British Empire.
