Fenian Raids: Canadian Resistance and British Canadian Forces

This chapter discusses the mismatch between the Fenian units and the British Canadian forces during the Fenian Raids. The Fenians consisted of civil war veterans from across the US and the Confederacy who had little familiarity with each other. Despite being much better trained and organized, the British Canadian forces were outmatched in terms of individual Fenian riflemen's combat training and the amount of ammunition the Fenians had. The chapter also highlights the battlefield stupidity of the Canadian militia, who mistakenly panicked and attempted to form an orderly square formation in the face of the Fenians, resulting in chaos and their eventual retreat.
