The Original Sound of Wes Wes's Music
I think it comes from actually when I was studying just pure music and 20th century music. There was a real focus on what's called extended techniques in the instruments, like playing things that might not be traditional. Working with this, coming up with things that are maybe more unique is always exciting to me. When I did this movie, The Homesmen, the story is of these homesteaders in the 19th century that moved west and they all sort of went crazy because of the wind. So I wanted the wind to be part of the sound of the score.
