Could Green Hydrogen Revolutionize the Energy Sector?
Ones and Tooze
The Obstacles to Green Hydrogen Production
The process of making the hydrogen and then on processing it from there is hugely inefficient. The good news is that already, given the huge learning curve gains we've had in photovoltaics and wind, green hydrogen production through electrolysis is beginning to be competitive with gray hydrogen production. But at least hypothetically, we can see scenarios in the next 10 years, not in the next five years, in which those kind of processes are become commercially viable but there's a huge number of obstacles before we get there.
