Doctors are loath to do something because there is a perceived risk that something bad will happen if they depart from established dogma. Drugs that reduce bleeding sometimes increase the risk of unwonted clotting causing hart attacks and strokes. It's not completely unreasonable but trying to shift that belief with evidence, which i think it's time we did, is the hard thing. We have a job being rational, in a way.
