One of the things i found most touching about the time machine, when these moments where individual particularity broke through. And one of them actually has to do with shoes. There's a simi moment, i think, in the relation with wena that something breaks through there,. You know, his disregard and disdain the undifferentiated character of this ifricated human race. But then in those last lines, which i find, in a way, very moving, despite this vision, when he has these flowers in his pocket.
