The majority rejected the idea that state legislators are unconstrained by state constitutions as interpreted by state courts when it comes to the rules regarding federal elections. The court pretty strongly rejects a broad version of the ISL that would say state legislatures are totally unconstraining by law. And despite the baselessness of the independent state legislature theory slash fan fiction slash meth lab product, this grant was actually pretty terrifying.
