When that system is firing, I think for many of us, it has been too intensely, too often and for too long over this past year. And then we have this powerhouse of a brain that starts to sense this activation,. It starts to sense something's going on and it tries to make sense of that. But our brains are trying to interpret these physiological signals once they come into our consciousness... We can't necessarily interrupt that automatic process because that threat detection system is happening mostly outside of our conscious awareness through our senses.
