A lot of the stuff you use with mix-ins can be replaced with scoped variables. Variables are extremely well supported in all of the browsers. So yes, I think it's better to do a regular CSS variable. The syntax is a little bit funky, we know. But I've certainly gotten used to using that syntax,. And it's better because your variables are live and updated in the client.
