Judy Bloom's Forever
It's a lovely earnest little actress who's doing it. What I liked about this film is that children, these 11 year olds, look like children,. They look like realistic, rather than some sort of Hollywood ideas of what a pre-team would look like. The casting is really well done... beautifully nuanced in terms of the characterization and how it looks through a child's eyes. It's worth noting that Judy Bloom's books are still banned in many of the more conservative counties of the American County Library. She was fond of a good opening sentence, Alice Thomas Ellis.
