What Happened May 22, 1787?

In 1787, 12 men met in a Quaker printing shop to end the slave trade. The British Empire at this time was the world's greatest slave trading and slave owning country. Five years later, 300,000 Britons were participating in a sugar boycott refusing to buy slave grown sugar for their tea or coffee. They invented every technique of political organizing we use today.
