The BMA's Definition of a Clinical Session in General Practice

More than a quarter of GPs who took part strongly disagreed with a statement that their workload had been safe for them and their patients over the past 12 months. The BMA defines a session in general practice for hours and 10 minutes in terms of length of time, and it says that not more than three hours per session should be spent in contact with patients. 48% of people who responded to the survey said they always spend a higher proportion of time per clinical session in contact with Patients. A further 37% said they often did.
