Dr. Fred Clark was heavily involved in the acquisition process of the Dalcon Shield. He ignored an internal memo prepared by Robin's company doctors Ellen Preston and Daniel French six months before the product went to market. The memo expressed concern that the tail string attached to the shield could pose significant danger to women who wore it.
