The Battle of Mightleine

The Peloponnesian invasion of Attica in 427 BC would be the second largest of the war, only slightly smaller than the one done in the first year. The Spartans were planning to attempt another land and sea campaign against Attica, and to send a fleet of ships to relieve the siege of mightleine. They sent a Spartan commander named Saluthis on a single tri-ream to mightleine that was smuggled unseen into the city. He then informed the mightleinean magistrates that the promised Spartan support of the previous year would in fact be coming the following campaign season in 427 BC.
