Benedict the 9th is related to at least four previous popes. He was born into a powerful and wealthy Italian family, the Counts of Tuskelin. Through good old fashioned bribery of the Romans, Elbric was able to get his son to become the next pope as young as age 12. The Pawnocracy saw seven or eight papal elections in as many years.
