Aristotle's Theory of Reproduction
Aristotle's semonology satisfied all the requirements for a univ al theory of generation. Flies and maggots suddenly show up on rotting meat because flies are formed from rotting meat. During sexual reproduction, the seman meets the menstral blood and gives it form in the same way as fig juice turns milk into cheese. A theory of reproduction also had to explain two other perceived things: how sometimes animals gave birth to animals of different species,. and how some animals were born not from animals at all, but straight out of the ground or the water.
