In Our Time

CHAPTER

The Aristotelian Tradition of Studying Nature

My modernist assumption was that you cannot be a true believer if you are an agnormous. You have to study the reality, as John said before, and take it for what it is. The motto of the guide goes back to a saying of Abraham who calls the name of the Lord as the Lord of the universe. And my modernist tries to show that if you study the reality of the world, you'll get away from pagan superstitious beliefs. It's the reconciliation of the law of Abraham with philosophy.
