In Matthew 26.39, Mark says he went a little further and fell on his face. I think there's a fulfillment that he should see his seed. For me, this is all going to culminate, of course, on the cross,. He will experience what we could call spiritual death. From a Latter-day Saint perspective, as we go from the extremity of the loneliness on the cross to the spirit world where he is surrounded by his friends, his family, it has to be one of the most beautiful juxtapositions we have in all of Scripture.
Dr. Daniel Belnap examines the events of the Garden of Gethsemane and the nature of sacrifice.
