The Origins of Generosity in the Early European Pagans

The generosity virtue among the early European pagans. It was really more about generosity towards your allies, your guests, and your kin than it was towards the general public or towards the poor people in the community. If you are giving nice gifts to your troops, then they will keep being your troops. So there were reasons behind these notions of generosity for the leaders of the pagans. I'm not sure how much I would actually use that in a game.
