The Tough on Crime Catch Cry That Works
In 1992 there were 1322 crimes per 10,000 people in New Zealand. That figure is now less than half of that - but you wouldn't know it from public debate. The tough on crime catch cry works for politicians and large segments of the media. But more complex solutions take a hell of a lot more explanation. And so they don't get the cut through in the media.
