De vorja never encountered any native americans as far as we know. One of harry burley's great grandfathers was native American. So de vorjac was looking at music that was nominally native, but probably written by white composers more in the style of native Americans. This explains the harmony being in the vicinity of correct in this excrept of the symphony.
