The mythic traditions that we've inherited no longer function. We intuitively want, it seems to me, to search for new mythologies and sacred stories to fill a void. Adherence of various religious traditions are more vocal than they've been in a long time. There are countless examples of post-mythic structures operating in contemporary life.
