There are no other references in any source from the twelfth century to these courts. So did they exist? It's very possible that the courts of love are entirely the invention of andreas capalanus. Most experts think that eleanor and aristocratic ladies probably did host evenings where they put on mock trials, aided by court poets and troubadours. The image of eleanor presiding over the courts ofLove has been a favourite of writers influenced by the so called golden myth.
