Turkey's Decision to Close the Straits of Ukraine
turkey also took a big move that could be read as a confrontation in russia, to close off access to the turkish straits. It's only the second time in the history of the montro convention - which governs passage through these straits - that this article has been invoked. As far as i know, i haven't seen any official negative reaction to this decision on the part of turkey. This still gives russia the right to bring back vessels that may belong to the black sea fleet but that may be deployed outside of the black sea domain.
