How to Pay Respect to the Past Without Being Trapped

When Trump said, let's make America great again, the opposition really didn't have too much of a choice other than to take the position that it was never great in the first place. By the way, to be fair, the same thing is true of Black Lives Matter. How do you venerate? How do you elevate the past without turning it into a one-dimensional mythology? Right. Honestly, the only way I can think of to do that is to look at what's under the pyramid and tell both sides.
